About

Three Jade Tigers.

三玉虎 — Sān Yù Hǔ. A name that started in Shanghai and has spent two decades earning its meaning.

The name

Melinda and Mike met in college and studied together in Shanghai — Melinda as an undergraduate engineering exchange student, Mike as a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering. The company they founded in 2003 carries a Chinese name because that's where the partnership started.

三 (Sān) — Three. Originally representing Strategy, Process, and Technology — with people at the core and profits as an outcome. The name was chosen knowing it could anchor to other triads as the firm evolved. Today, three practices. Three postures of AI. The number earns new meaning as the work does.

玉 (Yù) — Jade. Auspicious and valued in Asian culture. In the West, green is the color of money and growth. The dual symbolism was intentional from day one.

虎 (Hǔ) — Tiger. Strength, courage, and the willingness to move when others wait. Not recklessness — the discipline to act decisively with full information.

Owner & Operator

Engineer. BS and MS from the University of Illinois. Epic Systems EMR certified. Melinda has focused her career on the intersection of technology and operations in automotive, manufacturing, and healthcare — industries where getting it wrong has consequences beyond the balance sheet.

She founded SanYuHu in 2003 as a woman and minority-owned firm at a time when that designation meant navigating two headwinds at once: proving capability and proving the business model. Two decades later, both are proven.

Where we've worked.

Consulting engagements across three continents. More than fifty countries between us — working, studying, and living. The global perspective isn't a credential on a slide. It's how we think about every problem.

The firm

SanYuHu LLC is a Michigan corporation founded August 18, 2003. Woman and minority-owned. We have delivered strategy, architecture, and technology across automotive, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and financial services for more than two decades.

We are not a body shop. We are not a slide-deck factory. We are engineers who became consultants because we kept seeing the same gap: firms with clear strategy and no one who could execute it at the level the strategy required. We fill that gap.

Today, the AI paradigm shift has widened that gap. The firms that navigate it will be the ones that redesign their operating models — not the ones that bolt AI onto the old ones. That's our work.
